CENPRI provides power reliability grid support services to Central Negros and ancillary reserves services to the Visayan Grid. It provides peaking power to CENECO, one of the largest electric cooperatives in the country. It acts as reserve power during the PMS downtimes of CENECO's main power suppliers from Cebu, Panay, and Southern Negros Oriental.

CENPRI also provides CENECO and its member consumers with price and supply protection from the volatile Visayan WESM, which normally rises in rates during periods when there are plant shutdowns (planned and unplanned) and the energy spot market prices go up from the resulting supply shortages.

During the Leyte earthquake of 2017, CENPRI saved Bacolod and neighboring cities from debilitating brownouts to the relief of call centers, hospitals, schools, public services, hotels, and shopping malls. Cebu, Leyte, Bohol and parts of Negros were not as lucky.
